Friday Links!

By tgetman

To everyone who missed the Whigs last night at the square; you missed a great show. The rain came on pretty strong towards the end but a surprisingly high number of fans braved the storm to enjoy the rest of the Whigs set. There was one dude, who couldn’t be older than 22, who was really dancing it up during the storm. I would imagine that he was on some sort of psychotropic drug that would increase his enjoyment of Zappa playing Zappa but at that time all he was doing was helping me enjoy the show. This kid had P.O.W. tattooed on one side of his abdomen and M.I.A. tattooed on the other side of his body. Was his father a G.I.? Perhaps. More than likely though the guy just got some really terrible tattoos. It was great. Sadly, I have no photographic evidence of these awesome tattoos on the drugged up youth but I do have a video of the Whigs playing a tune of theirs entitled “Technology”

It might not be of the highest quality but you can’t really enjoy his voice unless you hear him belting it out live. And now, onto the links.

  • Congrats to the Buffalo News who waited all the way to the end of the first sentence of this article to make a terrible pun. I suppose that I should give them credit though for not putting it in the headline.
  • Speaking of headlines, this one is pretty bad, and to think, newspapers think that bloggers need editors.
  • I don’t know if anyone is aware of this yet, but Brett Favre has been traded. I don’t know if they will be allowed to call him a “gunslinger” in New York. Homeland security might have a bit of a problem with that.
  • Talkin_Proud hangs a tendency to hang onto jeans a little bit too long. Now you can, too!
  • Buffalo is a great place to live. Wait, no it’s not. What’s that? Everything is fine? I don’t know what to believe anymore but I do agree with Dukes of Awesome, if you are going to make fun of us, at least do it right.
  • Joe Posnanski likens the air in Beijing to the air in Cleveland. I guess that I can see that.
  • Former Minnesota Twin and baseball thief Doug Mientkiewicz does not have much of an attention for buttons. For some reason, other people do, namely Chicago Cubs announcers.
  • The Dunder Mifflin news letter.
  • While we are on the topic of Michael Schur projects, you can now buy your very own Fremulon Insurance clothing!
  • I don’t know if you have heard about it, but the Buffalo Bills are playing their first preseason game tomorrow night. I, for one, am thrilled that I will finally have something to write about. You have no idea how close you are to reading a 8,000 word essay on the Minnesota Twins and Ron Gardenhire’s mismanagement of the bullpen.
  • We second that.

Weekend time. While Talkin_Proud enjoys some Canadian Cottage time I will be sweating over every single Twins at bat like it was a playoff game. I will be doing so while watching the Twins play the Kansas City Royals. Yeah, football season cannot get here soon enough.

I was worried, when you were talking about the trippy dancer, that you might have been referring to me. Thankfully I am 25, but look 40.

BTW, I really like the new logo.

Thanks for the compliments on the logo. Did you see some of those kids at the square? Man, when I go there I feel like I am 40.

I always wondered what old guys do to attract this jailbait. Then I reached in my pocket for the three dollars I had scrounged from my couch.

    I found my answer.
