Marcus Stroud and the Buffalo Bills will take on Stroud’s former team, the Jacksonville Jaguars this weekend which is sure to be “personal” for him, no matter what he says. From the Buffalo NewsBuffalo Bills defensive tackle Marcus Stroud tried his best to recite the obvious cliche Wednesday, but he could not do it with a straight face.
“Just another game, just another game,” a smiling Stroud said as he stepped to the microphone for a news conference after practice. “It’s Week Two.”
The Bills need another big week from the big defensive tackle if the Bills are to have as much luck against the Jaguars as they did against the Seahawks this past weekend. Well, the Bills are in luck because the entire interior line of the Jaguars offensive is going to be missing this weeks game with various injuries. In fact, Stroud will be lining up opposite former Buffalo Bills guard Tutan (nee Tutenkhamen) Reyes for much of Sunday’s game. Do you remember Tutan Reyes? No? Well let me remind you, he was not exactly what a pro football scout would refer to as “exceptional”. He started six games for the 2006 Bills whose offensive line featured such “stars” as Mike Gandy and Terrence Pennington.
When Jaguar running back Fred Taylor was asked about Stroud’s return to Jacksonville and facing a depleted Jaguar offensive line, he had this to say
“He was fired up prior to what happened with the offensive line,“ Taylor said. “I’m sure he’s licking his chops now.”
Not for nothing but after hearing those comments predicting a big week from Marcus Stroud would be akin to saying that the British eeked out victory in the Anglo-Zanziabar War (How’s that for a metaphor?!?!). Who knows, maybe Stroud might even secure himself a “Gold Star” from the NFL for his performance this weekend.
So c’mon Buffalo, say it with me loud, We’re Talkin’ Proud, We’re Talkin’ Stroud!
