Friday Links!

By tgetman

Given how close the two matchups are in the Buffalo Media Showdown we are going to keep polls open until Sunday Night. And no, Heather, this is not just because Mike Harrington is up by one percentage point right now. I just feel the 200 people who have already voted may want to tell some friends before the weekend is done. So make sure, if you haven’t done so already to vote in the elections between Nick Mendola versus Mike Harrington and Brad Riter against John Muphy.

And yes, this is just a cheap ploy to get more hits on the weekend.

I will be at the Sabres games both tonight and tomorrow. If you are looking to be impressed with feats or drinking or hockey knowledge come by section 311 as I will be sitting there, providing feats of drinking, while the aforementioned Heather B. of Top Shelf and Katebits from the Wilful Caboose will be sitting next to each other providing hockey knowledge.

So yeah, onto the links

  • This just might be the most awesome thing ever. If I were a religious man, this is exactly the kind of thing that would get me to convert. Wait, what? They are all empty? Forget it then.
  • A well respected writer in the community passes. Sadly, we never had the opportunity to meet the man, but by all accounts he seemed like one of the best. Best wishes to his family and friends.
  • After Monday night’s Bills loss, let’s just say that we decided that acting out was the best course of action.
  • It looks that maybe my clumsiness may no longer be a deterrent in my hopes of one day of becoming an astronaut. Oh, you can’t smoke in space? Never mind then.
  • Despite no longer using the name Ken Tremendous on firejoemorgan Michael Schur continues to be funny.
  • For those of you who didn’t know; I am totally awesome at bubble hockey. It appears that Andrew Peters may be the best of the said game on the Sabres. I will gladly challenge him any day. It is just too bad that our players won’t be able to hold onto each others jerseys for 5 minutes while moving slowly in a circle.
  • Number 1 Seed in the Buffalo Media Showdown, Nick Mendola, has a nice break down of Trent Edwards. For all of Buffalo’s sake, I hope he snaps out of this funk real soon.
  • Personally, the idea of combining two foods that I love has always been intriguing to me. After attempting to put pizza on ice cream and blend chai, bacon, cream, and ice together (in a blender, naturally) I decided that I am no master chef. For the reasons listed above, this news is especially devastating.
  • Say it ‘aint so Chesley.
  • In Bucky Gleason’s ongoing quest to confuse all of Buffalo, he wrote another logical column. The Roost breaks it down here. Let’s all just hope that if the Sabres continue their current skid that us bloggers will get some column fodder out of his Sabres trashing columns.
  • I am glad to see that college students are standing up for good causes now a days.

A big weekend ahead. I will be celebrating my first birthday in a whole year at Saturday night’s Sabres/Islanders game. I will however not be holding up a sign proclaiming as much. I hate those guys.

Oh, and next Wednesday, Hawksley Workman is playing at town ballroom. Everyone should go. This is why

Uh, last time I checked, around midnight, Mendola was rocking Mike… something like 55%-45%. Did you prepost that item?

  2. tgetman Says:

You would be correct. I wrote this around 830 last night, after which it seems there was quite the run for Nick. I am going to stand by my statement and let voting continue until Sunday night.

AAAAAAAAHAHAHAHA! That’s hilarious! You do know that all I do at games is boo at Sabres, spill nacho cheese on everyone around me, and pick fights with opposing fans? Right?

That temple is made from Heineken bottles. Can you imagine how skunked it would smell in there?

First time hearing Hawksley. Damn good. If it wasn’t the night before Thanksgiving and I wasn’t going to the game on Friday I’d be there.

  5. tgetman Says:

Mixed in is some sort of Thai beer, too. Perhaps that has anti-skunk agents mixed in it somewhere?
