On a night that brought out Buffalo’s most value minded consumers to the ball park, Free Food Night, the Bisons provided plenty for the Braves to chew on; namely meaty curve balls and fast balls right down the pike. Barbaro Canizares set the pace for the Braves as he had 5 RBI’s and was a triple shy of the cycle leading Gwinnett to a 9-1 victory over Buffalo.
After winning the past two games Buffalo disappointed the well fed crowd of 5,991 on Wednesday night at Coca-Cola Field. The 8 run deficit was the second largest defeat suffered by the Bisons this season; their worst since the second game of the season when Pawtucket blanked Buffalo 9-0.
After the game, Manager Ken Oberkfell was visually displeased
“Brandon [Knight] had a pretty rough start; didn’t have much command and his stuff was up”
…
“We have to turn the page. Give their offense credit & give [Braves starter, Charlie] Morton credit, he is a big league pitcher”
Bisons starter, Brandon Knight (2-3), despite striking out seven batters in 5 innings pitched took the loss for Buffalo (8-23). Charlie Morton (4-2) held the Bisons to three hits over 7 innings to secure the victory for Gwinnett (16-18).
In other Bisons news, first basemen, Nick Evans, was sent to extended spring training and will be optioned to AA Binghamton afterwards. Evans was batting .093 in 75 at bats before being sent down.

Seriously I know it was free food night, but open up a few more concession stands. I’d like to see at least half the game.
Wily Mo Pena is a huge human being. But not so great at baseball
